Olivia Rodrigo did not need long to get a laugh out of Jake Paul. One sharp line on SNL was enough.
The American singer looked back at her Disney years with Paul and joked about the future he once imagined for himself. Years later, that joke suddenly landed close to reality.
Paul, now engaged to Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam, has spent the past few years turning boxing into his main stage after first becoming famous online.

Rodrigo told the SNL audience that she was 13 when she acted in the Disney series Bizaardvark. Paul was part of that cast too, long before Netflix fights and boxing headlines followed his name.
“We had a great cast, including Jake Paul,” Rodrigo said.
Then came the punchline.
“Jake and I always talked about our future. I said, ‘I really want to make music that explores the complexity of girls my age.’ And he said, ‘Well, one day I want to beat up old men on Netflix.’ And we both did it! Yay!”

The joke clearly pointed at Paul’s recent boxing run, including his much-discussed Netflix fight with Mike Tyson.

Paul did not treat Rodrigo’s joke like an insult. He answered on X and leaned straight into the memory.
“We had the vision,” Paul wrote. “I told you you would sell out stadiums and now we both did. I’m genuinely proud of you!”
Rodrigo will perform twice at the Ziggo Dome next year, according to the source text. Paul, for now, remains away from the ring while recovering from a serious jaw injury.
That injury came during his fight with Anthony Joshua, which was also broadcast live on Netflix. The source text states Paul reportedly earned more than 90 million dollars from that bout.
